Frequently Asked Questions
From our customers. Click the lock for the answer.
What is meant by a rekey?
We are able to re-pin existing locks to operate with a different key. This saves time and money while giving you the peace of mind of having the only keys for your home or business.
When should I rekey my home or business?
We recommend rekeying your locks when you first take ownership of a property. The old owners may have given you all of their keys, but you don’t know if a neighbor had a key. Also, if keys are lost or stolen, you should consider rekeying your locks.
Can you repair my antique lock?
Yes. We can repair most damaged antique locks. Whether they are door locks or small furniture locks, we can repair them and make keys.
What does electronic access control mean?
Limiting access to an area usually through a door or set of doors using electrified locking devices. These devices can be controlled by a door controller which is usually programmed with software or they can be a stand alone unit. Credentials such as a key card, token, keypad or biometric means; can be read at a door reader to grant or deny access. Audit trails and scheduled times can also be options with these systems.
Is there a way to prevent someone copying my key without my permission?
Yes. A restricted key such as Medeco requires a special card to be presented along with an authorized signature to have keys made. We are able to incorporate these key systems into most hardware you might have on your doors.
